First Impressionals from a potential international employment agency partner can give a very good indication if they are likely to be a problem to your business later. Here are some pointers... Today, more than ever and especially while in the middle of a global economic downturn it is critical for any business who needs to recruit foreign workers for skilled workers programs or guest workers non immigrant visas to be especially careful in their choice of recruitment partner. The consequences of not getting it right can seriously damage your reputation, and often this happens through making only one bad decision, choosing the wrong overseas employment agency to work with.

I have owned several International employment agencies since 1997 and I started to write a series of articles about the need for employers and businesses to be extra vigilant when recruiting migrant workers through International Placement agencies. The reason is that you have to get it right first time, you have to do it with an international recruitment partner who is totally honest and is not charging the workers money and so you really have to be sure that you will not have a major PR headache, which is what would happen if they did charge the guest workers or if they provide you with workers that are not properly screened and matched to the jobs that you have.

Need a New Income Source: You income is not keeping up with expenses. It just seems that everything costs more and you need more resources. Sometimes career exploration leads you into setting up a part time business using the skills you already have. This allows you to slowly transition into your future career while working full time in your original job. In the meantime, you get the additional income you need from your part time business. As your part time business becomes more successful you can say goodbye to your previous job.

Lost Your Job: The economic crisis really hit your company and you were a victim of job loss. After a few days of panic, you know you have to get back on the career planning path. Start by updating your resume and giving yourself a goal of submitting to at least three potential job sites each day. Use this opportunity to submit your resume to industries out of your comfort zone but areas you have always been interested in.

A brief confirmation of what your needs are understood to be should then be submitted to you after the initial conversation, this may also include details which may have been in question during the chat, but not able to have been answered at the time. Typically, a confirmation will be done for companies looking to employ several foreign workers and will consist of details of where they recommend what country the applicants are sourced from and why, while explaining to you what the advantages and disadvantages of the different countries may be. The report should also include details about the right type of visa guest worker program that you should be applying for, and why that particular visa or guest worker program is the right option for you business. This report would also include the costs of the service and the immigration process should be clearly outlined in a step-by-step easy to understand format.

Your chosen overseas recruiter should offer you either skills assessment videos of the applicants, or offer the possibility a recruitment trip abroad, especially if you are looking to employ enough people to make the trip viable. They should make every effort to make you aware of the skill levels available, and the need for any training upon the foreign employee's arrival. An example of this may be welders who are professional and experienced but may not have the same modern equipment in their own country that is used in your country, or they might be used to working in metric measurements and not imperial measurements, which would affect you if you are a UK and US employer...this is be best discussed at the outset to facilitate a plan, well ahead of time for training so that the foreign skilled workers can hit the ground running. If the foreign workers agency has that sort of understanding and depth in what they are offering then you are looking good to go with them, if they are not, then drop them and find someone who is an authority in the marketplace.
