The Adventures of Manxy, the Rabbit Cat
and the Case of the Missing tail !
Manxy is an unusual cat, soft white and furry but one thing is different, he has no tail.
And these are the adventures of this most unusual cat.
Manxy was born to the proud parents of a kind but tired lady and her special son called Shiloh Tiger.
Who kept faithful watch over God’s beautiful creatures.
They lived in a small community of homeowners who didn’t want them around. They had small yards, and didn’t get along.Get rid of those cats, everyone said, but manxy’s mommie and Brave Shiloh Tiger refused to leave them and soon they needed a home of their own. Rejected and alone, but sticking together, they prayed for God’s great grace. Though they were weak, He is strong…yes Jesus loves us , is their true heart song. Teresa and Shiloh came in one day to find the babies lying in a cross at the foot of the bed one over the other in a perfect cross, then it happened again ! And they took a picture to mark the time and keep it always, for this was a sign of the blessings to come. Then it happened. This was the time of forclosures Theresa's brother gave them a small farm where they all lived happily for many years to come.
Manxy had two sisters and one brother, all were white with beautiful long flowing fur.
He and the other little ones played and ate and slept a lot, as kittens usually do . And their mommie named Fluffy ,and their human mommie Teresa and Shiloh Tiger took good care of them and loved them every day.
As time went on Manxy got bigger and more playful, but one day he noticed something unusual.
The other kitties were licking and cleaning their long proud white fur, when they got to the end of their back, They kept on licking! Something long they had coming off of their backs. What is that Manxy asked his mother. Manxys mother was very patient and said, “that’s their tail, dear.” He said “what’s a tail and where’s mine”?
……And So begins the adventures of Manxy and the missing tail. Manxy admired the other kitties long white fluffy tail and thought he should have one of his own. And when he was older, he set out over the world, to find his missing tail.
He said to himself “now where do I look, where would it be? That missing tail of mine, said Manxy?”
He left his home in the southern woods and went through thickets high and low. He saw many creatures on his way , you know. Manxy, in search of a tail. The first thing he encountered was a bug in a hole , he said I have travelled high and low
And I have one question of you kind sir…have you seen my missing tail? The bug slow moving sort of beelte like, eventually answered with a low tone voice, no I haven’t seen your tail sir at all, but it’s nice you’ve come to call. Would you like some ants or a leaf or two? I have plenty God has given me two. Would you like to have a leaf with me, or maybe we can play hide and seek. But the fresh young Manxy had a job to do so with regrets he said, I must get a clue of that which I seek, for I am eager to complete, my task and come home to my people too. Thank you for your offer sir but I really must be off, for I’ve a job to do.
So Manxy hopped over and under on his way through the woods, he was getting tired and hungry too. When at last, a clearing he found with a house and a candle in the window, looking nice and warm. But I must be careful of the dogs, but maybe they know something more about the quest for my tail. Maybe this is a friendly farm that would give me a bite to eat. So Manxy gently sneeks up to the little house and sniffs around to see if there’s a dog. Soon the door opens wide and a great large man stands inside smoking something and enjoying the air, the little brave kitty let’s out a meow and wouldn’t you know it'S a great big dog but wait he’s not trying to eat me, says Manxy to himself and he looked at the kind face of the man like santa, which he had seen many times at his mommie’s house. The great large Man reached down his large hand and scooped him up in his arms. Still weary of the dog, manxy purred and purred for the man was kind indeed. He offered to manxy a delightful dish of tuna and chicken his favorite indeed. And he ate and curled up with the doggie by the fire. Thankful to have rest, Manxy the next morning left happy and refreshed for his adventure.
Manxy walked and walked and found a rabbit’s hole and asked if anyone was home. The rabbit untrusting of a cat said how do I know you will not eat me sir if I show you my nice warm home?
Manxy replied I am not hungry, no not, as I have just been well fed before. So the rabbit replied with a gentle sigh, come in and stay a while. So Manxy went in and they grinned and grinned at how much they looked alike. Facinating said Bun for that was his name Bunn E. Yabbit to be exact. “ I’ve never seen a cat built like a rabbit with no tail and a high back end. Looks like we could be kin…” and they laughed at the irony of it all. “but I would like a tail to complete my fancy cat like phizeek…” as he proudly stood up on his hind feet. They laughed and laughed and then Bunn said…”I bet I’d look funny with the tail you seek ….can you picture that on me?” The two had much more in common and they were comforted by one another. And they soon warmed each other and fell fast asleep.
In the early hours of morn, the cat and the rabbit awake at dawn to start the day and each find their way to their own respective tasks. “thank you kind Bunn for we had a grand roar at the similarities created by God. Thank you for trusting me..and for the hospitality of your humble home.”
So Manxy had made good friends on the way to find his perfect answer.
Manxy began to notice that creatures are all different but all created by God.
Manxy continued on his new path asking everyone he came across if they had
Any clue to the missing tail. But alas, to no avail.
He talked to birds and talked to worms and no one could find it anywhere.
One day it began to rain and Manxy had to find shelter. His paws were wet and he remembered his bed that Teresa had made especially for him. As he lay there wet and cold, he remembered the love of his happy home and his favorite special little boy, Shiloh who showed him much love.
Back at home worry was all around for their dear prize Manxy was gone.
Teresa and Shiloh were sad that day for Fluffy, Manxys mommie was attacked by the bad dogs and never made it home. Shiloh and Teresa morned for their precious Manxy was not home.
So they prayed to the only one who could see all things..to find their precious little Manxy and bring him finally home. They feared because of the dogs.
Meanwhile, the rain had stopped and Manxy was all alone. Sad and wet he longed to be pet and warm and dry at home…but the answer still had not come. Manxy knew that god is love and that’s the most important thing….it’s not a beautiful tail that makes us complete, but the love a kind home.
Just then a shadow appeared, what’s that is that Bunn in the door….wait..wait….it’s…it’s….wow “you look like me, “ Manxy said you’re a cat , just like me.!!!” This is one thing Manxy had never seen, someone just like himself. So he introduced himself with all his courage, to the beautiful girl kitty in his midst. He said my name is Manxy,
I am on a solemn search, to find my missing tail and complete my fine physic but may I ask where is yours? She looked at him a purringly said , silly boy we are a fine breed. We do not wish to look like the others for we from far across the sea.
Our people are noble and rare and pure, you are very special with your no tail ….but I’m glad to meet you you’re a fine looking chap….sit down a while and I’ll tell you where it’s at.
So they sat and groomed, and licked and purred
And she told him of a wonderful world, of how their ancestors came from a far off land…how they are prized on the Isle of Mann. How they are precious and wonderfully rare and there are longies and stumpies and even rumpies which have not even a hint of a tail. And how they are valued for their rabbit like look, but they are big and strong. She told him many things of which to be proud of where he comes from and how he can shine. They purred and slept in that little barn and kept each other warm.
In the morning right about dawn, Manxy was vexed about his journey home. He longed to be loved at his own farm….so he had a thought…”why don’t you come along?
She looked and sighed and said with joy….maybe your people would love me as well. Manxy was overcome with the love of God that he should bring him someone of his own. So they set out on the path to home. And they met his friend Bunn and laughed at the miracle God had done.
They walked and hopped and ran and played and though it was long they arrived one day to what’s that? …the clearing in the southern woods.
There were his brothers in the yard and they merrily approached their home. Shiloh saw Manxsy and Manxsy saw Shiloh and they were so happy then…Teresa heard the commotion in the yard and ran out to greet. They cried and cried tears of joy for the miracle God had done….and in a little moment they looked down and what was this in the yard? …Another precious manxy a girl sweet love
brought home. Teresa and Shiloh reentered their house with then even more love.
Soon the summer came and a surprise some babies for Shiloh and mom. Manxy and Sheba, as they came to call her …had Manxys of their own….and the farm lived on…. In the name of Jesus and for His sake…..amen.
