Article writing and marketing is one way to gain visibility and increase your credibility on the internet. But your articles can also serve a much greater purpose if you turn them into press releases. Sending press releases on a regular basis can catapult your business to the top within a very short period of time.
You can get started with this by first writing and submitting an article to one of the article directories. Then you can repurpose that article into a press release by simply turning it into an announcement. Answer the who, what, where, when, why, and how questions and make it sound exciting. I like to think of it as a kindergarten student coming home from the first day of school and giving his family a detailed account of exactly what went on at school that day. If you can incorporate the excitement of what you are announcing into your press release, it will bring you lots of interest from the media and others on the internet.
First, there's the formatting. The service that you use to circulate your press release may have their own guidelines. Follow them. If not, here's some things to remember.
Even though this may only be a temporary boost in your ranking, it will draw attention to you and what you are doing.
Next, put as much information as possible into the first paragraph. Busy clients or potential customers may not have time to peruse your masterpiece. So, make your first paragraph an intriguing summary, one that makes your reader want to read on (or skip to the bottom and call your contact person). Begin this paragraph with the date and location of the subject of your press release.
When your press released is syndicated in this way, your news story can be instantly seen by tens of thousands of people who are searching for your topic. Even though they have never heard of you before, they will now have your name, website address, and phone number. Many of these people can easily be turned into prospects and clients.
This is how expert publicists get away with hype--they stick it in the mouths of the experts. Well, not really, the creators and executives in charge don't need any help building up their product, service, news story, etc. All you have to do is ask those in charge, "what should the public know about..." Then, grab a pen or tape recorder. Tack these quotes in amongst the facts and there you have it.
Your keyword use matters here too. Use the same kind of SEO best practices as you would on your webpage. Use keywords in your headline and naturally throughout the body of the release. Don't make the mistake of packing your release with keywords; this can lead to it being ignored by search engines and makes it difficult to read remember to write for human readers first and search engines second.
If the purpose of the press is to make people want more information, then the contact person must be able to answer all of the forthcoming questions. Otherwise, the press release, the company behind the announcement and the writer (you) all lose credibility. And, in the business world, that's usually your most important asset. |
