Phonic Books Ltd was founded by three ladies Wendy Tweedie, Tami Reis Frankfort and Clair Baker who always have a passion for teaching children to read. They are all work together at the Bloomfield Learning Centre, a charity located on the campus of Guys Hospital, London.

The centre helps struggling readers by teaching to read through synthetic phonics and also trains teachers and assistant teachers in how to teach reading using phonics.

In 2006 Synthetic Phonics became popular and government also accepted it as best route to reading. These three partners who experience the lack of structured reading booking and teaching resources decided to write, illustrate and publish their own books.  They launch Dandelion Readers series at the start.  Then there was much demand from local authorities, schools, teachers and parents. Soon Dandelion Books became mainstream in classrooms as well as a special needs resource for children who need extra support.

Our complete range of phonic books and phonic reading books for beginner readers and reluctant readers we stock includes Dandelion Launchers for beginner readers aged 3-8, Dandelion Readers for beginner readers aged 5-8, Totem Series  and Talisman Series for older, reluctant readers aged 8-14.  Child’s age and level of your child’s reading will determine which books are suitable to him or her.

To see where to start with your child, go to Phonic Progression page.

Our highly structured phonic books are surely going to keep your beginner readers and reluctant readers engaged and will built confidence in them from the very beginning.

We have interesting, imaginary stories with appealing characters, colourful and motivating illustrations, high phonic progression, clear explanation of Synthetic Phonics for teachers and parents, Game in every book, vocabulary page, short lesson for reluctant readers, text on cream background making easy to read, syllabus split for readers, reading practice with phonic focus and spelling activities.  We provide more information about decodable books, teaching tools for parents and teachers, books for dyslexics, activity books, books for letters and sounds, vowel digraphs, montessori books, etc.

With growing demand for books, the range has extended from the the initial 10 titles to 160 today and will reach 190 before the end of the year.  The books are used in about 3500 UK schools and are exported to 25 countries.

Though Phonic books remains small business helping in improving literacy, distribution of phonic books are now carried out at professional warehouses.  Phonic Books Ltd has estimated that more 1000 children have already used the books.

Wendy, Tami and Clair thanks pupils, schools, teachers and many others for enthusiastically trialling the books.
