Shaklee products with the symbol undergo rigorous evaluation before they can be labeled kosher quality. A Rabbinic field representative from the world-renowned Star-K certification organization of Rabbis, food technologists, and field supervisors with the expertise and resources to execute the Laws of Kashrus routinely evaluate Shaklee products.
Criteria for Star-K Certification:
Ingredients — All ingredients within a manufacturing plant, whether they are for kosher use or not, are evaluated.
Production — Much of our equipment is dedicated to the production of kosher products. Under certain conditions, equipment that also manufactures non-kosher ingredients must undergo Kosherization, a sanitation process that treats equipment with high heat.
Products — If a new ingredient is added to a product, the product must be re-evaluated for Star-K certification. The symbol signifies that the products meet all kosher requirements and are pareve — products that do not contain any form of poultry, meat, or dairy ingredients. The Star-K emblem is displayed on the label, ensuring the highest standards of kashrus. Star-K Certification is a guarantee that Shaklee kosher products are meat-free and pure.
Star D Indicates Dairy
Shaklee also offers several Star-D products, which are labeled with the Star-D emblem. Shaklee Star-D products and the equipment used to produce them undergo the same rigorous process to make them kosher, although they contain dairy products or dairy derivatives such as lactose, whey, or milk powder. This difference is clearly marked on every Star-D label. Our Star-D products are cholov stam.
And, Shaklee Star-K Kosher products are perfect for those who are lactose intolerant and/or allergic to ingredients derived from milk.
Shaklee is always striving to increase the number of its kosher-certified products and is working closely with Star-K to expand our kosher offerings. Some of our products that are not presently certified may contain trace amounts of non-kosher ingredients; however, they still may be suitable for kosher consumers. We identify these products as Batel Beshishim.
Many Shaklee products are kosher-certified as Star-K Kosher and Star-D Dairy by the National Council of Young Israel in affiliation with Star-K Kosher Certification.
