There are several good reasons to change tubes in your amp.
First, because the tube has simply burned out causing a malfunction with the amp.
Second, to improve the performance of your amp. Your tube amp's sound will deteriorate gradually as it's tubes wear down. It's much like the relationship your guitar has with it's strings, the harder and more often you play, the faster the tubes will wear. So, just as your strings sound dead long before they actually break, your tubes will lose power and tone long before they finally burn out.
Common symptoms of worn tubes would be: excessive noise; microphonic ring or squeal; loss of power; loss of highs; mushy lows; and erratic changes in output levels. It only takes one weak link to start a chain reaction of catastrophic failures.
A regular maintenance schedule eliminates this risk. My re-tube & re-bias includes: Complete component level diagnostics, dis-assembly
of amp chassis to clean out all potentiometers, switches, jacks, detailed
inspection of PC boards, switch out tubes and calibrate bias. This procedure only
takes 1 day, will increase performance, eliminate annoying pops and crackles,
